Viewpoint Snøhetta

One of the things you shouldn’t miss here in Dovrefjell, is Viewpoint Snøhetta. Established atop Tverrfjellet, just west of Hjerkinn, this facility gives you a truly stunning view of the entire valley, Snøhetta, and other peaks in the national park. The hike up to the facility is also suitable for everyone, regardless of condition and level of experience. The trail from the parking lot up to the facility is neatly paved, and the elevation is forgiving. Along the trail you can also read bits of Dovrefjell’s history, and the wild reindeer in the region. The walk up to the facility will take you about 20 minutes.

Inside the facility, you’ll get the full view, and the opportunity to warm up on windy days. If you make your visit during daytime, you’ll also have the opportunity to hear more about the wild reindeer and other fauna in the area from the park ranger, while they present antlers and hides.

Viewpoint Snøhetta is open around the clock during the summer season from 1. June, and is closed during the winter season.
